Job description

The target over the coming three years is to achieve a turnover in excess of £10m and a headcount of over 100, with plans to open a number of regional offices in the UK.

The Financial Controller will be responsible for all aspects of the finance function. Priorities will include:
• Ensuring a high level of integrity and efficiency across the finance function
• Managing the Finance Team
• Providing commercial support to the COO and the executive team
• Ensuring Compliance with Law Firm regulations

You will ensure that you are compliant with polices as well as exceed the requirements of external regulators including the SRA and LAA. You will be aware of and comply with the Money Laundering and Bribery Regulations.

Educational Qualifications/Experience

• You will be a qualified accountant
• A thorough knowledge of SAR requirements
• Some experience in supervising a team
• Willing to develop a commercial approach
• Ability and enthusiasm to drive and manage change in a growth environment

Core Responsibilities

• Maintaining the integrity of the financial data
• Lead a high calibre financial team
• Providing prompt, accurate and commercially relevant financial results
• Preparation of an annual budget and regular updated forecasts
• Focusing on tight cash control, including WIP and debtors
• Driving efficient client billing and cash collection, overseeing a cost team
• Delivery of ad hoc financial analysis, as required by the COO and others
• Submitting VAT and HMRC returns
• Overseeing the payroll process and P60 / P11D / PSA administration (HR Function)

Compliance

• Ensuring compliance with SRA requirements, including reporting and audits
• Preparation of statutory accounts and meeting audit requirements; liaison with auditors

General

• You may be required to undertake any other job deemed necessary, reasonable and appropriate
• Understand and comply with all relevant company rules, agreements, policies and procedures
• Conduct yourself, at all times, in a professional and responsible manner, promoting a good and proper image in accordance with company standard
• Promote a positive working environment and support and encourage your team and colleagues

• In accordance with the limits to commit the Company to spend detailed within the Office Manual
• Complaint Handling – in line with the office manual
• Supervision – in line with SQM standards
• Employment – authorisation to appoint and terminate employment in line with HR policies and procedures but not without instruction from the HR department
• Annual Leave approval – authorisation to approve for your team members only
• Changing operational procedures –authorisation to change financial process and procedures with approval of the COO
