Job Description: 

Role Description:
Reports to Finance Director

The Head of Finance will lead the finance team to provide commercially astute business and strategic financial services that enable operational excellence, underpinning operations in preparation for further strategic growth whilst building organisational financial capabilities and accountabilities:

- Business partnership: To ensure the reporting of financial information to operations team and Directors to enable the organisation to meet and ideally exceed all financial and other targets;
- People and culture leadership: To ensure that the basic requirements of financial processes and reporting are carried out correctly and in a timely manner driving, reinventing and continuously improving the efficiency of the finance department ensuring the finance department has the right people in place to deliver now and in the future in line with ambitions and values;
- Organisational development and business change management: To work with the FD to provide financial leadership, strategic direction and commercial expertise, continually evaluating and improving the quality of reporting and value added to the business. Supporting the development of new business and organisation strategy.
- Power relationships: To create strong and meaningful relationships with stakeholders, such as directors, HR, Investors and Trustees.
- Professional and technical: to provide specialist company secretarial and financial analysis commentary, reporting service to the latest charity and FRS charity standard.
- Financial reporting and forecasting: Provide treasury management services, covenant reporting, cash flow and financial reporting.
- Integrated financial system: Will be the functional and business lead on the selection and implementation of new systems.
- Development of self and others: To ensure continual professional development, sharing knowledge and experience to enable self and others to be the best.

Problem solving and decision making:
The role has responsibility across the full range of financial operations across the business which will impact reputation, economic sustainability and ability to deliver its desired social impact.
Must be familiar with essential regulatory and compliance issues, investor covenants as they relate to the charity’s financial matters, implementing and embedding robust management processes.

Person specification:
The jobholder should be able to demonstrate previous experience in commercial and financial operations across multiple sites with a turnover in excess of £7 million and the ability to achieve, deliver and drive a performance based outcome culture. Ideally a graduate with a professional qualification, chartered accountant or chartered management or certified. Knowledge of charities and education would be an advantage.

- Able to coach and develop direct reports
